Great book formatting ensures that your story isn’t just read, but experienced. It influences how smoothly your text flows, how professional your book looks, and how comfortable it feels to hold and flip through. From the first chapter to the final sentence, one thing becomes clear: design matters.

A well-formatted book doesn’t distract from your story; it enhances it. Elements such as a balanced page layout, readable typography, thoughtfully designed chapter openings, and decorative details help make your book feel polished, cohesive, and reader-friendly, whether in print or digital format.

That’s exactly what you’ll find in my book formatting portfolio: layouts created with a keen eye for aesthetics, readability, and genre. Whether you prefer something simple and classic or playful and intricate, I’ll tailor the design to your book, target audience, and personal style.

I offer book formatting services for all fiction genres. However, I do not format non-fiction books, such as guidebooks or reference books.

The term “book typesetting” refers to the technical and visual preparation of your manuscript in a readable, print-ready format. This includes font selection, line spacing, margins, chapter openings, page numbers, and much more. The goal is to create a professional and enjoyable reading experience.

“Book layout” is often used interchangeably with typesetting, but in a narrower sense, it refers to the overall visual design of a book’s interior, such as the placement of decorative elements, graphics, drop caps, or specially designed chapter pages.

In short:
Book typesetting = technically correct, reader-friendly formatting of the text
Book layout = creative design and visual enhancement of the book’s interior

In practice, the two go hand in hand, and I combine both to create a cohesive, polished result for your book.

I create my e-books using Atticus, ensuring they are well-structured, easy to read, and technically sound. They’re designed to work well on commonly used e-readers and reading apps.
They are generally compatible with many assistive technologies, such as screen readers, but are not fully accessible according to official standards (e.g., WCAG or DIN standards). If you have specific accessibility requirements, feel free to get in touch. We can discuss your project together and see how I can help.

I work with Adobe InDesign, the industry standard for professional book typesetting. It offers maximum creative flexibility and precise control over layout, typography, and formatting, ensuring a high-quality, print-ready result. Whether you’re publishing a simple novel or an elaborately designed print project, I use InDesign to bring your book to life with precision and style.

No, because I always calculate my book formatting prices based on standard manuscript pages. Each volume is formatted individually, whether it’s the first or the fifth book in a series.

Even when the design concept is already established, the time and creative effort required for each volume remain almost the same. I carefully review every manuscript, adjust formatting, and pay close attention to readability, page breaks, and design details.

A flat series discount wouldn’t reflect the work involved. Instead, I offer fair, transparent pricing from the start, tailored precisely to the length of your manuscript.
